Earline Parmon served as a Democratic member of the North Carolina General assembly, representing the 72nd House district from 2003-2012. She then served as a NC State Senator until 2015, when she resigned her seat to work as an outreach director for U.S. Congresswoman Alma Adams. She died in March of 2016.
Senator Thom Tillis has been a member of the United States Senate since 2015. Prior to that, he served Mecklenburg County in the North Carolina House of Representatives from 2007 to 2015. He was elected Speaker of the House from 2011-2015. Before he joined the legislature, Sen. Tillis was a consultant at PriceWaterhouseCoopers and IBM.
Larry Womble represented the 71st House district of the North Carolina General Assembly from 1994-2012. Though a staunch supporter of compensation for eugenics survivors, the Winston-Salem Democrat retired before the compensation bill was passed and signed into law, after sustaining serious injuries in a car crash in 2011.

His stories have been chosen twice for the “Best American Sports Writing” series (2012 and 2015) and he also appears in the anthology “America’s Best Newspaper Writing.”
He’s writing a book called The Elephant In the Room, a memoir about life as an overweight man in a growing America.
John Railey is an editorial page editor at the Winston-Salem Journal and the author of the book Rage to Redemption in the Sterilization Age: A Confrontation with American Genocide. He has been a tireless advocate for eugenic sterilization victims since his distinguished work on the “Against Their Will” series in 2002.
